Thanksgiving Week Fun

The two days before our thanksgiving break were full of fun and learning.  We talked about our own family traditions during Thanksgiving and wrote about what we were thankful for.  We also created crock pot pumpkin bread and homemade cinnamon sugar butter.  They had so much fun measuring and cooking.  I am so thankful to have such a fabulous class this year.  Here is the link to the crock pot pumpkin bread if you would like to make it at home! http://wannabite.com/crockpot-pumpkin-bread/
It turned out just perfect!
Here it is cooking while we are working!
Everyone got a turn to use the mixer!

Making Apple Pie

Today was a day full of sensory activities, measurement, literacy connections, and fun.  We listened to the book "How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World" by Marjorie Priceman

We discussed the ingredients that to into making an apple pie and if they had ever made an apple pie before.
We divided up into groups and made our classroom version of an apple pie "crock pot apple pie"  We washed, pealed, and cut apples for our pie.  We added milk, eggs, butter, cinnamon, and some bisquick to create the dough.  The pie simmered all day long filling the room with a wonderful aroma.  Several times students said, " I can smell it, I think it is done"   After a long 3 hour wait we finally got to try or creation.  We had many thumbs up.  Below is a little video of our experience as well as  link to the recipe you can try at home.
